Museum in Dance
Arearea Company

The cultural and artistic value of Arearea proposals in the district of Udine laid the foundation for an original project involving Civic Museums and, more specifically, Museum of Contemporary Art “Casa Cavazzini.”
For the third consecutive year, the collaboration with Civic Museums and Municipality of Udine – Arts and Cultural Department has been renewed in regards to the development of Museum in Dance project.
The Museums of Udine will be, again, a creative space housing Arearea dancers in the new exhibitions. The gesture itinerary proposed by Arearea will interact with the installations and will add volume to the exhibition itineraries.
Under the direction of Marta Bevilacqua, the dancers carry the audience (max 35 visitors) on a tour of the works and the evocative spaces of the Museum housing the project.
The Company will live in the involved museum’s spaces for three days to compose improvisational frameworks in relation to the audience within the exhibition “James Rosenquist. Works on Paper”

A dance for James Rosenquist
Energy and speed of expression are the signatures of Rosenquist’s language. Dance and Pop Art have a long history together. A friend of Rosenquist, in addition to the well-known Warrol, is Robert Rauschenber. Both of them believe in engravings technique as an excellent artistic language. Engraving means corporeality.
Rauschenber had understood it so clearly that he placed his creative process alongside with Merce Cunningham’s dance (by designing for him scenographies and costumes). We are not Merce, that’s for sure, but we pay heed to his precision and his trust on fortuity.
With these premises, we will look for a dance for Rosenquist.
