Museum in Dance wants to explore the relationship between movement and space by realizing shows inside charming places not conventionally dedicated to performing arts.
Performance LIGHT is the second Museum in Dance event inside the exhibition itinerary “Images of Reality: Realist Paintings between Nineteenth and Twentieth Century” at Museo Cavazzini of Udine.

Over the course of the nineteenth century, in response to the challenges posed by the ever more rigorous comparisons made between painting and the photographic image, artists began to turn their attention to reality, in all its manifestations, in search of new fonts of inspiration. The most favored subjects became landscapes, scenes from daily life, and portraits; it was in these areas that new modes of direct representation of reality developed in an effort to make the image ever more immediate and ‘instantaneous.’ Leading this process of artistic renewal was En Plein Air painting, while other techniques for representing reality developed in the wake of scientific discoveries made during the late nineteenth century. Divisionism and symbolism made their own contribution to this new trajectory, carrying the principles of realism far beyond the threshold of the twentieth century.

Under the direction of Marta Bevilacqua, the dancers carry the audience on a tour of the works and the evocative spaces of the Museum housing the project.
The Company will live in the involved museum’s spaces for two days to compose improvisational frameworks in relation to the audience.
The exhibited works and performers will engage new senses and perspectives for the eye of the visitor
Performances aim to activate an empathic connection with the audience.
